Savings in self-consumption

With the gradual phase-out of net metering and evolving rules in Belgium, it is becoming increasingly profitable to store electricity produced rather than injecting it into the grid. This is exactly what Belup batteries enable.

Setup completed after January 1, 2024

For setups done after January 1, 2024, and for all new setups by 2030, the value difference is stark:

  • Grid injection: around €0.04/kWh.
  • Self-consumption via storage: valued at €0.35/kWh.

Thanks to better self-consumption, you extract up to nine times more value from every kilowatt-hour produced.

Savings calculation:

0.35 (self-consumption boost) X 8500 (kWh consumption) X 0.36 €/kWh (gain) = 1071 € / year in savings.

Setup completed before January 1, 2024

For setups prior to 2024, the Belup battery also reduces the prosumer tariff, shifting from a flat rate to a proportional tariff based on energy actually drawn from the network.

Savings calculation:

0.35 (self-consumption boost) X 8500 (kWh consumption) X 0.13 €/kWh (fee) = 386 € / year in savings.

In summary: the more you consume your own electricity, the more you earn. Belup makes this optimization automatic and continuous.
